A Letter from Board President Jeffrey Jackson
Dear Friends and Community Members,
It is with profound optimism and dedication that I introduce you to The Rutland Commons, a nonprofit organization born from the belief that sustainable agriculture and equitable land access are foundational to community resilience. In a world where food systems are increasingly disconnected from local communities, we are committed to cultivating a shared space where everyone—particularly those from underserved populations—can grow, learn, and forge meaningful connections through sustainable farming practices. Our mission extends beyond simply growing food; we are nurturing a movement that empowers individuals through agricultural training, municipal partnerships, and regenerative practices that honor both the land and our diverse cultural traditions.
The Rutland Commons represents our collective vision for a more just and sustainable future—one where food sovereignty is accessible to all, where refugee and immigrant communities can preserve their cultural food heritage, and where emerging farmers receive the support they need to thrive. Through our comprehensive internship programs, partnerships with local governments, and commitment to regenerative agriculture, we are building pathways to a more interconnected and resilient community. I invite you to join us on this transformative journey—whether through membership, volunteering, or financial support—as we work together to grow a future deeply rooted in sustainability, equity, and shared prosperity. Together, we can redefine our relationship with food, land, and one another.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Jackson
President
